“Obstacles and challenges, are the agents of growth.”
-Jen Sincero: You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life.
My life, when compared to others on the outside looking in, most would consider a good life. I am employed and have no real problems or medical issues. However, I just couldn’t see how blessed I was because of the mental funk I was in. I was in a downward spiral, my mind unclear. I was doubting myself and everything, in which case, I had adopted a “F**k it” attitude for about a month. I stopped working out and eating healthy. I became lazy and I was always disgruntled. I had TERRIBLE road rage. Looking back, I would post about my moaning and groaning almost daily. I had to do something to get myself out of this space.
One day, I was cruising through audible.com. I ran across this book they were promoting on their site called, “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Live an Awesome Life,” by author Jen Sincero. When I read the title, I felt compelled to hear this book. (If you are not familiar with audible.com and what it is, click this link now) I listened intensely to this book everyday because I was desperate for an awakening. Each day the clouds began to part and little by little, it got easier. Jen challenged me to hold myself accountable and put all of my mental and emotional stuff to the forefront. She knocked me on my ass a few times, but I got back up. I ultimately decided that “girl you need to just cut it out!”
This book is one of the main reasons why I now face each day with gladness, ready to take on whatever chooses to come my way, good or bad. The book also encouraged me to renew my faith and trust in a higher power, i.e. God. It taught me to stop thinking negatively and ways to handle those thoughts when they pop into my head. It reignited a spark in me to go after what I wanted.
This book changed my life. It changed my way of thinking. It changed my attitude. I will be forever grateful for this book and believe it will be a blessing on anyone’s life. If after you listen to it, you are not empowered to make changes in your life, i.e. rid yourself of toxic relationships, take risks, go after your dreams, refocus your life, then you need to listen to it again and again, until you feel it. You will be blessed.0
