Your spirit or soul, whichever you prefer, needs peace. One of the ways I find peace is through meditation. Through meditation, I feel closer to God. I experience an overwhelmingly rush of calmness whenever I meditate.
As I seek a closer relationship with the Lord and being nearer to him, I use meditation as a tool to get me there. The Bible says in Psalm 1:2: But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. I try to meditate daily and usually do this in the morning, which is best to start the day off strong. But you can meditate any time of the day you want. Meditation can be in many forms as you only need to hear and concentrate on the word. I meditate by listening to gospel music, hearing the word spoken, and through prayer.
Another tool that I like to use is the Abide app. This app offers a contact page to request prayer, listen to sermons, and of course meditate. They have meditations as short as 2 minutes and up to 10 minutes to accommodate any schedule. Each meditation has a topic and the instructor guiding the meditation talks you through each session and ends it with a prayer. After the meditation is over, it invites you to add any takeaways from your session. You can subscribe monthly to the app for a small monthly rate to open up much more content. You don’t have to subscribe, the free version may work well for for your needs.
Meditating daily is vital to a healthy spirit. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Word and see results of how prayer and meditation changes things. It won’t hurt to give it a try.
