Stress Less: 10 Tips for Living Stress Free!

Are you stressed out? Going through tough times and you need a break? Well we’re going to try and do something about that today! I’m sharing my 10 ways on stress less. 

Dear Stress, Let’s Break Up!

Hey guys, it’s Cocoa. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that everyone is going through a lot these days. Our country is a mess. The White House is a mess. The world is a mess. Maybe you are having some financial troubles right now or are struggling at a dead end job. Well first, let me assure you, that it’s not the end of the world. Someone always has it worse off than you. Secondly, you are going to work through whatever it is you are going through. You’re going to make it. You just have to buckle down and handle your business! Lastly, I know this may sound easier said than done, but you just have to know that you’re a freaking rock star. Like there isn’t anything that anyone can say to you that should alter that mind state. Ok, now that I’ve offered some words of wisdom, I’m ready to jump into this list. Counting down from number ten, here we go!

Take A Vacation

Studies show that vacationing is one of the most helpful ways to relieve stress. Studies also show that people neglect taking vacations largely due to being workaholics. Hey girlfriend, life is short. Sometimes you just need to get away and that’s ok. I would suggest doing this for anyone, but especially if you’re a new mommy, single parent, or have suffered a loss, this is a great idea. You may be feeling overwhelmed with the new baby and all of the things that you’re learning. To my single parents, as a fellow single parent myself, I get it. I know what it’s like to want to choke your child, but you can’t because then you’d be on the news and in jail. LOL. Trust me I KNOW full well what you’re going through! Go on a vacation with your best girlfriends and let it all go. So, where are you going and can I come? I’m down! 

Take A Staycation

Sometimes is just good to stay at home. Take off from work and while the kids are at school and hubby’s at work, do you! Be lazy, lay around the house, and stay in your pjs all day. Read that book that you’ve been wanting to read forever. Eat crappy food, seriously–it’s ok. And you may be asking yourself, Cocoa are you telling me to be a lazy bum? Hell yeah! You need to do it because, when do you ever? Let go and be free!

Get Uncomfortable!

Get out of your comfort zone! Do something crazy like skydiving, bungee jumping, zip lining, or even paintball. Ride a roller coaster or do an obstacle course. Challenge yourself and do something you’ve never done before. You may be thinking that this is going to make me more stressed and add anxiety to that mix. This helps–trust me! You will feel exhilarated and your adrenaline will go through the roof! It will make your endorphins go wild and you will be all the better for it. Who knows, you might come to love it.

Spa Day:Treat Yourself

Treat yourself to a spa day. These can be expensive, true. But every naturalista and queenalista (that’s you *wink) should pamper herself every once and awhile. You can do a variety of different things to keep it within your price point like a pedicure, manicure or massage. Or go to the extreme and purchase a full day of spa soaks, massages, cucumber wraps, facials and the whole damn thing. Groupon has lots of spa deals at really good hotels and really good prices. 

Wine and Chocolate

Wine and chocolate have been a natural aphrodisiac for ages. I love it because the combination just goes so well together. My favorite combination is a moscato and dark chocolate. I’m a dark chocolate kind of girl you know so that’s my jam. The sweetness of the moscato pairs best with a dark chocolate that isn’t too sweet. As soon as I take a bite, I instantly begin to feel better. Give it a try with your favorite wine and chocolate.

Have an orgasm!

Girl, girl, girl! When was the last time you got busy? If you are lacking in that department you may need to get that checked. LOL. Orgasms naturally de-stress you so make it good! Plan a night with your boo, dress up and get a change of scenery. Or, plan a romantic night at home, surprise him at work or do it in a public place. You know, spice it up! Get your freak on and do it often. You’ll be surprised at how much better you feel. If you don’t have a significant other, you can always go with batteries! (hint, hint)

Spend Money and Go Dancing

Going shopping always helps! Twerking always brings a smile 😜 Enough said.

Exercise: Just Release It!

Besides sex, working out is probably the most talked about way to de-stress. It’s one of my favorites because I love how good I feel afterwards. When I work out, I get to work through my thoughts and issues and just release them. I have something else to focus my mind on because I’m not so wrapped up in my crap. I get to release toxins and get my tone on while I work. And who knows you may just meet someone!

Meditation: Just Breathe

Meditating can be very peaceful and calming to your mind, body and soul. Practice breathing techniques and methods to keep your anxiety and stress low. Teach yourself how to handle situations as they arise and find better ways to cope. Spend 15 minutes everyday, in the morning is best, and just sit with your eyes closed and just breathe. Now this can be tricky because it’s very easy to start thinking about your problems while doing. So you will have to really learn to focus when you are doing this exercise.        

Pray: Let It Go

Pray, don’t worry. I naturally gravitate towards doing this because this is my favorite way to release my stress. When I pray, I get a chance to get it all out and I don’t have to worry about any judgement. You don’t have to be a religious person or even a spiritual person to pray. Just speak from your heart and be honest. I do believe in a higher power and feel that whatever you put out in the universe will manifest itself. The power of prayer is real and I can attest to it.
