Working Through Negative Emotions

For the past three months, it seems I’ve been going through a valley or season. You could even call it an emotional roller coaster. However, you choose to label it, it’s been a few trying months. Every time I think I have a hold on my emotions and able to control them, something happens and I end up in the same rut. This time though, I’m not having it!!! (Yes this calls for 3 exclamation points) I said enough is enough, I’m over this s-beep. Girl get it together.

I’m going to share with the steps of how treat my negative symptoms and overcome them. I’ve outlined a five step process in the video on my YouTube channel. But here, I’m going to go into a little more detail AND I’ve added two BONUS steps that I could not leave out. Ok, I’m excited! Let the countdown begin.

#5-Relax & Have Fun

Having fun is a simple idea that I’ve talked about from day one. The reason is because it is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get you back to happy. This obviously will be different for everyone but, whatever your source of relaxation, fun or peace may be, do that! 

#4-Meditate

This is another staple of mine that I practice regularly. This can be difficult at first and takes some time to get used too. However, when you get in the habit of doing it daily, it will be like no other force you’ve felt before. It is one of my favorite things to do to re-center my mind and emotions. When doing it with crystals it’s even more effective. It helps to keep me balanced the entire day.

#3-Exercise & Foods

Dieting such as detoxing your body and eating foods with cleansing properties; and intense cardio and lifting weights is an awesome way to rid of negativity. For me, when I’m working out, I focus so hard on the work out and the effects I will feel afterwards ,that it becomes the very thing that makes me work harder. The sauna and hot tub are the icing the cake.

#2-Affirmations

I learned about affirmations when I was a little girl. In my YouTube video, I tell a story of how my Mom would make a list of affirmations and I’d say them to myself in the bathroom mirror. Strangely, I’ve carried that memory with me my whole life. She said, “whenever you need encouragement, say them out loud.” Being so young, I didn’t understand the value at the time, so like most young kids, I didn’t give it a second thought. Now almost 30 years later, I find that I am at a time in my life where I need them more than ever. 

#1-Prayer & Supplication

My number one, of course. This beats all others and nothing compares to it. I feel safe in prayer and know that I am being heard.

BONUS

I couldn’t complete this posting without mentioning family and loved ones. There’s something about loving on my girls and my honey-pie that makes me feel good.

    I disconnect! I get distracted with so much with being online especially for blogging now that it becomes too much. I totally disconnect and let my phone die lol.
    I also like to clean and light an incense. People say cleaning is not a way to regroup but for me it is. I feel like I’m cleansing my house and it makes me feel great.
    Lastly, enjoy just laying out in bed with a good book or just lay out and enjoy the peace.

    I loved all of these things that you listed! I’ve got to get back into the routine of praying. What are your religious beliefs, if you don’t mind me asking? 🙂 I like to do emotional release with essential oils and clearing my chakras through oils as well.

      Christianity. I use essential oils at my day job because OMG I need them! I pray all day, out loud, in the car, at the store, everywhere! People think I’m crazy but I don’t care because I have to do what I need to do for me. The affirmations really really help me to stay on track. Glad you liked the article. 🙂

    Such great ideas! I love yoga for finding my center again. Just makes my whole body and my brain feel better. Although if I’m pissed, lifting weights is my go-to 🤣
    I’m also a water baby, and a lot of my childhood was spent in nature, so if I’m really having trouble holding it together, I try to go to the lake/river, or just take a walk. That always does the trick!
